a socialist

What is a socialist? It’s a person who can become rich or not and is for taxing steeply when one makes gigantic amounts of money
or
is for having the same tax for everyone high enough to achieve the betterment for all or a combination of both.

A socialist is for universal education, universal health care, and a government dedicated to working hard in the areas needed to assist folks in developing a successful and overall satisfying life.

“The betterment of all” also makes it better and easier for the rich to remain rich. The mixture of socialism and capitalism is one of the cures for the human condition.

An example of betterment would be to no longer allow hunger in the world while there’s enough food for everyone. Do we have to have a one-world government to feed all of the starving? Make it happen and be famous and fulfilled.

Changing one thing at a time is more practical and easier than trying to change a lot all at once. Gradual change happens and of course the direction is key. Is the way we were brought up the most influential thing about us?

Can a human change?

One
change for
the better helps
other betterments to happen.
We begin to find change
is not the enemy;
it’s the case.

there are only situations

Sometimes we think something is blocking our way or is hindering our way to a certain destination. We turn to look in a different direction and see a new way, but it too has a catch. When we look around we observe a circle of deterrents surrounding us.

What is wrong? We we have trained ourselves to come up with the worst case scenario about what can come from a particular situation. If we ignore it, our opinion of it stays the same? Or we can come up with a way to deal with it.

We can drop the deterrent because we judged it to be. We thought is was a barrier. We can start a new habit of coming up with ways a situation is not a deterrent. Practice make permanent. It’s why we see barriers because we have practiced and have become very good at it.

We all are creators. So, we can use that ability to change the way we imagine things to be. We can start to think and act as an observer of each situation. This will allow us to come up with new ways to think about what seemed to be a deterrent.

Eventually we will find out there are no actual deterrents and will stop believing in them. We can observe situations and think “Should I ignore it or wait and see if there is opportunity here?” Or we can wonder if we go around it, what will we find there? etc.

There are only situations, and each one is another opportunity to observe. We need to get in the habit of observing without making judgments.

It’s not easy but the results are astounding. We normally judge almost immediately. It’s a habit and a hard one to break because we’ve always done it.

Here’s a situation and everything which has happened since the Big Bang has caused it. So it’s perfect as it is and cannot be avoided. So, the next situation is our contribution to the situation’s lineage.

We should practice recognizing our judgments. When we do judge and realize it, repeat something like this…“There I go judging again.” Growth and change begin with that statement.

humming along

Could it be as simple as…Everything is as it is and that’s what truth is? Hollywood speak: “It is what it is” actually fits the definition of truth, but…

Is truth too easy to talk about? We have vague imaginings of everything humming along together in a constantly changing now, but is this reality slippery when we try to experience it via mindfulness or attempting to feel ourselves as safe in a very snug part of the mystery?

Why is it so hard to feel perfectly included? Is there something in the way? If so, what is it?

Is it the something which usually takes credit for all of the human animal’s talents? What would happen…if I, the identity, the ego, the entity my animal created to handle things were put in charge of my being’s immune system and its eyesight? I would be blind almost immediately and soon die from a small infection.

Am I hardly more than a chooser and companion? These are my talents, and I’m scared I’ll loose my seat of power if I ever give it up, but is this very unlikely because I’m needed by the animal to choose and get along in society.

But can I trust my own reasoning?

Why fear change when change is the the game everything is participating in? Is change humming along with or without our awareness of it?

the direction of change

The moment doesn’t go anywhere, but it always faces in the direction of change. And change always takes everything in the universe along with it, including the absence of things.

Does this mean there is no escape hatch for us? Is there no leaving behind? What are the odds? Are they so high and unknown they’re not worth talking about?

It’s not often one gets to use the word always literally.

belief

To be or not to be is what we face all along the way.

Believing something will always be the same and then coming to believe the same something can do nothing but change…happens too along the way. It’s a shock but we get over it.

Is it that we can’t help believing?
Is this why disbelief
exists?

Belief plus
disbelief equals
just one of the dualities.

As has been said many times, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but no one is entitled to their own facts.

Why? We feel comfortable with beliefs because they can stay the same and facts are subject to change which is scary to many.

evolution

Is change relaxed? Do evolutionary things just happen and the changes which occur have no purpose? Some changes are good for survival and other changes are bad for survival, and there are some changes making no difference in survival. So there’s no trying in evolution except for the desire of individual creatures. So the mechanism seems to be natural and neutral.

And many of the creatures receiving random changes which aid survival will survive to pass on their changed DNA, and so their progeny continue on, and some of the creatures, after eons of time, come to wonder how did we come about and why? The how has been solved.

Charles Darwin’s evolution started the revolution and his followers have perfected his conclusions over the years using discovery after discovery to prove and improve  Darwin’s ideas. Ideas beyond doubt to open minds.

And could the best answer to the why question be random DNA mistakes or changes just keep on happening without a purpose while creating millions of species along the way? Could How? and Why? be the same thing?

Evolution is an explanation for change without purpose and a term for the body of scientific proof of what has happened to life on earth during the past three and a half billion years.

How can we explain what has happened to life here on earth?

Change is bound to happen in a universe like ours when there’s plenty of time and lots of opportunity. There’s evidence which supports the current explanation of evolution which cannot be explained away. Evolution happens is a fact but it’s so slow it’s hard to see.

These days, the DNA record is the clearest evidence for evolution, and when this evidence is laid out clearly as in Richard Dawkins’ book River Out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life, one may swoon over over the beauty of the purposelessness of change. Also Dawkins’ book The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution is a tour de force where he takes the DNA evidence and lights the path back to the earliest bacteria.

Do we think about what might be going on in the sweet spots of the billions of suns like ours, just in our own galaxy?
